Why should you consider Great Oak Lodge?

Quality Residential Homes

Our homes have been specifically designed to be homely, comfortable, and welcoming, enabling young people and children in our care to feel safe and looked after. We offer everything that you’d expect to find in a modern family home, balanced alongside relevant modifications, enabling us to provide the best care for individuals’ needs. Our young person’s guide and statement of purpose for each home highlights the facilities, amenities, and activities on offer.

Training

Our staff are provided with the highest quality and robust training, including face to face training with our specialist partners, IKON Training, one of the UK’s leading conflict resolution and managing challenging behaviour specialists.

More information on IKON training can be found here: Conflict Resolution Training and Courses | IKON Training

All staff are trained to at least QCF Level 3 or are enrolled and working towards this within six months of their employment.

Separately, we have an eLearning platform, The Training Hub.

More information on The Training Hub can be found here: Online & Face to Face Training Across Multiple Sectors. (thetraininghub.com)

Dedicated and highly skilled teams

Our homes are managed and operated by skilled and experienced staff who are dedicated to support children and young people’s development, health, and wellbeing. All of our homes maintain a broad and diverse staffing workforce in terms of gender, ethnicity, age, background and experience. All staff undergo a thorough recruitment process as part of Great Oak Lodges Safer Recruitment Policy, inline with Ofsted regulations.

Evidence-based therapeutic input

Our homes offer a suite of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, being Secure Base as one of them.

We review our therapeutic approaches through evidence-based practise on a regular basis. As well as continuously working closely with each child and young person’s key professionals.

We understand that no child or young person are the same, therefore all our solutions are bespoke, child-centred to the unique needs of each individual in our care.

A wide range of activities

As well as our person-centred therapeutic offerings, the young people in our care also benefit from a wide array of activities and the opportunity to pursue hobbies and interests. Because each young person is different, we actively encourage individuals to take part in activities that are important or interesting to them, within their bespoke package of care.

Activities can range from supporting young people to pass their driving tests, helping them to become involved in sports teams and outdoor pursuits, and enabling them to learn various trades such as mechanics.
